DESIGNER BRANDS LONGWEAR 24 HOUR HYDRATING FOUNDATION, LUMINOUS HYDRATING FOUNDATION + RISE & PRIME LUMINESCENT PRIMER REVIEW
I always read positive reviews when it comes to Designer Brands (DB) Cosmetics line and even products that I have tried and tested over the last couple of years I cannot recall anything that I wasn't impressed with. For a brand that focuses on quality and performance as well as being cruelty free is a huge and DB Cosmetics are definitely making their mark in the beauty industry.
I was kindly gifted a two ranges of foundations in several colours to try as well as a Primer which I forgot to include in my main photo! Out of the three one shade was perfect for the Summer whilst another shade will be perfect for the Winter. There are 6 NEW shades now available, with a total of 12 shades in each foundation collection. Each shade can be mixed together to create even more tones and a customised shade.
Starting with the Rise & Prime Luminescent Primer, here are my thoughts, opinions on this product.
DB Rise & Prime Luminescent Primer is designed to prep the skin to give a smooth, flawless base and ready for foundation by adding instant luminosity, giving the skin a subtle lit-from-within radiance. The gel like formula blends easily as is extremely hydrating. Packed with skin loving ingredients like Green Tea, Aloe Vera and Vitamins A, C & E, the Rise & Prime Luminescent Primer evens the skin tone and encourages skin cell renewal. It has an illuminating effect without looking shimmery which is perfect especially for my age. This retails for $19.99.
I tend to steer away from face primers as I have found them uncomfortable on my skin. But this one has become my fave. I love the way it feels and looks on the skin. It has a beautiful light-weight liquid formula that blends beautifully giving me a luminous glow and isn't sticky or tacky. Because it has light reflecting pigments in it, my skin had a beautiful glow, so I decided to try it on it's own with a little bit of bronzer, lippie and mascara and I was set. Such a versatile product I love it.
DB Longwear 24 Hour Foundation provides 24 hour flawless wear and claims to be full coverage. Ingredients include a combination of skin loving ingredients such as Vitamin C to help encourage even skin tone, Vitamin E to help encourage skin cell renewal, Peptide Infusion to plump and firm the skin and Aloe Vera Extract to ensure the skin remains soft and supple. It contains SPF 15 to help protect skin against UVA and UVB damage. This range retails for $16.99.
The foundation comes in a frosted glass bottle and pump dispenser making it easy to pump the amount of product I require. I found the formula to be thick and creamy but once I applied it on my skin it effortlessly blended well, giving my skin a glow, even-toned appearance as well as texture wise, my skin felt soft and silky. The foundation is buildable as well which is great because I needed to add second layer around the cheeks to cover up the redness. I tend to wear minimal makeup during Summer as I tend to look like a hot mess shortly afterwards. I was surprised how comfortable and lightweight it felt on the skin and it didn't wear off or budge from my face. I did experience a little bit of shininess around the nose which was easy to fix with blotting paper but it did not disturb the foundation. I cannot comment as to whether this will last 24 hours, as I do remove my makeup after work so it's normally on my face for around 12 hours. I can say it holds up pretty well during that time.
DB Luminous Hydrating Foundation provides naturally radiant and dewy complexion. Enriched with Hyaluronic Acid, Aloe Vera, Green Tea and Vitamins A, C & E, nourishing the skin, while adding instant hydration and evening the skin tone. The gel like formula blends with ease and can be built up from medium-to-full coverage if you want to take your look from day to night. It also contains light reflecting pigments to help illuminate our natural features. It is suitable for all skin types, in particular sensitive/dry skin as the dewy formula will not clog pores or cling to dry areas. This range retails for $19.99.
I really liked this one as well. It’s lightweight and also blended easily into the skin. This isn't as full coverage as I was able to see the pinkness from my cheeks come through which is no problem at all, a little bit of concealer was able to fix that. Alternatively as the foundation is buildable I could of applied a second coat but because our whether has be rat-shit hot I didn't feel like it. I really love the natural and glowy finish my skin had as well as the coverage as it didn't feel heavy or cakey. I also did experience a little bit of shininess around the nose and forehead, again, this was easy to fix with blotting paper. This foundation will serve me well during Winter.
