Carbon Coco, is a new to me Aussie brand which launched last year. They offer a range of oral dental products that contain Activated Charcoal to help leave teeth looking whiter.  I was kindly send two products to trial.

The Activated Charcoal Tooth Polish and Activated Charcoal Toothpaste is a 2-step process.  It is a natural alternative to teeth whitening products that normally contain some kind of bleaching agent. It removes stains, fights bacteria, prevents bad breath, gingivitis and other gum diseases.  Carbon Coco are also vegan friendly and cruelty free, YAY!

First Impressions!
If your like me (clumsy) then be super careful how you open this tub! The tub contains a black charcoal powder. When I first opened it, a 1/4 of it spilt into the sink I thought there would of me a seal. It did take be about half an hour to clean the mess! Make sure when you open the tub its sitting flat on the sink and do not open it on an angle freestyling!

The finely milled charcoal is made from 100% Organic Coconut Shell Activated Charcoal, with a hint of Bentonite Clay and Lemon Myrtle. It's a super gentle formula which essentially works to remove any stains on your teeth.

To be honest the texture and the look of the product was quite off putting but once I braved to use it I was surprised that there was no taste and the texture wasn't as bad as I thought. It was easy to use, I dipped my toothbrush into the charcoal powder and brushed gently for around 2 minutes and then rinse. I follow this by using the Activated Charcoal Toothpaste.

Carbon Coco’s new Activated Carbon Toothpaste has a unique Activated Charcoal fluoride-free formula that fights bad breath, keeps your mouth refreshed and replaces your everyday toothpaste. This tooth paste reduces bacteria build-up by up to 90% for 12 hours and penetrates deep between teeth to fight bacteria plaque.

Not sure what to expect at this stage, as I brushed my teeth, the paste turns into a foam which had a mild minty taste, surprisingly nice.

So why is there a two step process for this teeth whitening?  Because the Activated Charcoal formula doesn't contain fluoride, by using the toothpaste right after the charcoal powder, it helps to protect your teeth from further staining throughout the day.

It is definitely a unique way and better way to whitening teeth especially if you suffer from sensitive teeth like me.  Harsh chemicals to brighten my teeth actually make them sensitive so for me this is a better alternative.
