Australian weather can be one of the harshest in the world so it's super important to ensure you use the right products on your skin. Especially when skin doesn't feel or look the way it should be and with numerous contributing factors to take into consideration, whether it be stress or environmental related sometimes it can be hard to pinpoint the culprit.

One thing that I am sure of is always wearing the right sunblock at the right time.  Whether you are at work or out to lunch with some friends or family or at the beach.  I have a sunblock for every occasion.

So when the opportunity came up to ask some burning questions I had, industry expert Hayley Fahd, National Training Manager of Ella Baché, kindly obliged to answer these for me via email.

What makes Ella Baché different from other brands that are currently on the market?
by focusing so strongly on the skin, through thorough skin diagnosis and skin care. Ella Baché is centred around personalised skin care tailored to your needs - We create performance enhanced treatment plans to treat your individual skin concerns. 28 days is the length of time it takes for skin cells to rejuvenate which is why this year Ella Bash are launching their #IWillBe campaign, a ‘28-Day SkinFit’ program. The 28-day skin fit program will allow customers to join us on a journey to skin health, and allows customers to show their progress by using the hashtag #IWillBeMe. We also believe it’s not just about how you show your skin, it’s what you do in it that matters.

Why is it important to care for your skin early on?
Skin health is the basis of great skin through ageing. Making sure you look after you skin early on is paramount to being able prevent skin conditions from arising when you’re older, and if they do arise, it makes it easy to reverse (if they can be reversed)! One of the biggest factors early on (and throughout your entire life) is sun protection – it is imperative that we educate early on about the adverse affects of the sun on your skin.

What is the difference between dehydrated skin and dry skin?
Dehydrated skin is the lack of moisture in your skin and dry skin is the lack of oil production. We have some great products on the market that target dry and dehydrated skin such as the Hydra range.

Could I have oily skin and still be dehydrated?
Yes, absolutely! Generally speaking, clients with oily skin aren’t as dehydrated as people with a dryer skin, however dehydration is largely caused by lifestyle factors, and not having a good moisture protective.

Does diet contribute to dry/dehydrated skin?
Yes definitely, the trend of fat-free diets can deprive our bodies of skin-friendly fatty acids which in turn can result in dryness and dehydration. This can also lead to an imbalance of the chemical messengers that do many things, such as control inflammation.

Excess intake of alcoholic beverages and certain medications (such as nasal decongestants) can also contribute to dry skin or dehydrated skin.

Can skin damage be reversed?
Yes and No. It all depends on how severe it is, how long it’s been there, how often the clients spends time in the sun and most importantly if they use sunscreen (as well different lifestyle factors).

Where can I get advice on my skin and find out if I'm using the right products?
Any Ella Baché Salon or Ella Baché David Jones counter. All of our therapists are highly trained in skin conditions and their causes and a use state-of-the-art skin diagnosis tool called the TruView which gives our therapist a really in depth look at the skin and the severity of the client’s conditions. They will know how to fix them and what products are best used to do this.

Any tips on how I can protect and prepare my skin for Spring/Summer?
It’s all about prevention of sun damage, first and foremost, if nothing else, you have to use a sunscreen.
