WINTER BEAUTY ESSENTIALS | THE BEAUTY ESSENTIALS YOU NEED THIS WINTER

You can’t go using the same products you were using in the warmer months, because skin has different needs. Regenerative process in our skin slows down, losing its healthy colour and appear pale or dull with dehydration, redness and breakouts being the most common skin concerns.  So, I have put together a selection of my favourite skin, body and hair care products that will get you through Winter in style.
Nutri-Rich Oil is marketed as skincare for the face, but I have found that this product is also beneficial for the entire body.

If you suffer from dry scaly skin on your legs, knees, feet, arms, elbows, hands, cuticles as well as dry lips or even dry hair, Nutri-Rich Oil contains a highly concentrated blend of Apricot Kernel Oil, Vitamin E and Carrot Oil, relieving dryness, improving elasticity and hydration as well as reduce inflammation and help skin repair.

Exfoliating to remove dead skin is vital in Winter.  Without exfoliating skin can look scaly and be mistaken for dry skin, cause dehydration and give the appearance of dull skin. Features a concentrated citrus fruit blend of crushed oranges, lemons, and clementines that helps gently refine the appearance of the skin to soften, smooth, and improve clarity. It does this by breaking down the dead skin and revealing vibrant and healthy fresh complexion.

Ella Bache Creamy-Rich Cleansing Milk
A combination of chilly weather, cold winds and central heating can really dry out your skin, so a super-rich, intensely hydrating skincare is needed and it all starts with the cleanser. Gel and foaming cleansers are great in Summer but not so good in Winter.  Try using a milk or creamy cleanser to cleanse skin.  You don't have to have dry skin to use these type of cleanser.  This Ella Bache cleanser is for dry/dehydrated skin.  I am normally a combination in Summer but found this cleanser to be calming and effective to use in colder months.

This cleanser offers peanut oil and lanolin to melt away make-up and impurities leaving skin silky-soft and soothed, preserving and strengthening the skin's natural moisture barrier.

Cultivate Spa Foot Scub and Foot Creme Duo
Just because you don’t see your feet often in Winter, doesn’t mean that they won’t dry out too. Rough and cracked feet is common in Winter so maintaining them is important.  I use a pumice stone in the shower everyday to keep rough skin at bay.  I also exfoliate my feet at least once a week and as well as apply foot creme each night. Foot creme is different to body cream, if you apply a normal moisturiser on your feet, they will not absorb as well as the body and feet will greasy.

This Cultivated Spa Foot Scrub features a moisture rich granulated pumice and bamboo powder scrub.  With Lemon Myrtle and Peppermint natural extracts this delicious foot scrub is a luxurious treat for the feet.  I follow this with Cultivated Spa Foot Creme.  It contains the same delicious ingredients as well as tea tree oil, and arnica flower extract.  This creme works to sooth and regenerate dry, cracked heels leaving them soft, smooth and hydrated.

Shea Moisture Daily Hydration Shampoo and Conditioner
Show your hair some love by changing your haircare to suit the season.  Dandruff can be a problem in Winter, with hot showers contributing to drying out your scalp. Using a shampoo and conditioner to nourish the hair as well as the scalp is important.  Daily Hydration Shampoo and Conditioner contains 100% Virgin Coconut Oil, Coconut Milk and Acacia Senegal to help hydrate the hair shaft and enhance natural softness while reducing frizz, leaving your tresses soft, shiny and moisturised.

Nutrimetics Nutri-Rich Smoothing Lip Polish
Prevent dry, chapped and sore lips by exfoliating them. By using a lip polish regularly you will ensure your lips will be hydrated and free from dry flaky skin. Applying lip balm over dry lips will only sit on top of dead skin and the goodness will not be able to penetrate through. Nutri-Rich Smoothing Lip Polish contains Apricot Kernel Oil and sugar to gently exfoliate your lips leaving them soft, supple and hydrated.  Alternatively, if you currently don't have any lip exfoliators, you can add sugar to any of your lip balms to create your own lip scrub.

Maintain you lips by applying lip balm regularly to avoid lips from cracking and splitting. Try keeping away from perfumed or glittery lip balms as they do not benefit your lips other than looking pretty. Balms from Weleda, Natralus and Fresh are just a few of my other favourite lip balms that are also nourishing for lips.

Cultivate Spa Hand and Body Polish
The winter and warm air saps the moisture right out of hands and nails, leaving nails delicate and susceptible to brittle nails. The best way to treat your digits is to cover up with gloves when outside. Lather up with hand cream several times a day.  But sometimes that is not enough and the dry dead skin needs to be slayed away to allow goodness to absorb in.

Buff away dead skin with Nutrimetics hand and body scrub.  A clear oil gel with pumice and black rice powder scrub as well as Bergamot and Amber extracts that sloughs away the dry dead skin, leaving skin soft and smooth and Ginger Root Extracts relieving tired and stressed muscles.  A one product that services the entire body including hands.

No Winter beauty kit is complete without an intense body moisturising cream.  Follow this with any hand and/or body cream to hydrate the skin and allow the goodness to absorb.  Cultivate Spa Hand and Body Balm is great especially after the exfoliation.  Skin is left soft and supple with no greasy residue.

If you like to use a different body cream to your hand, here are a few of my fave hand creams that are nourishing and moisturising -  L'Occitane Intensive Hand Balm, Natura Siberica Lifting Hand Cream, Hand Chemistry Pro-Repair and Maine Beach Coconut and Tahitian Lime Hand and Nail Creme.

Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate
This is my favourite oil.  I alternate between this and a serum.  I only use the Midnight Recovery Concentate in Winter as I found this is when my skin appreciates it the most.  Midnight Recovery is geared towards skin in need of revitalisation and rejuvenation.  This can be used on it's own as a serum before night cream or if you do not like applying oils directly to your skin you can add a couple of drops in your moisturiser.  It is lightweight and absorbs without leaving an oily residue.  In the morning skin is smooth and supple.

Contains a blend of essential oils and botanicals including lavender oil, evening primrose oil and olive-derived squalane.  If your not a fan of changing your skincare based on the season you can easily add the Midnight Recovery Concentrate to your skincare to give skin more hydration during the Winter.

Serums are an important part of a skincare regime. My morning and evening serums are both different working skin differently. Endless Youth Amazing Botanicals Day Cell Serum hydrates, replenishes and smooths skin. Infused with botanical extracts, Apple Stem Cells, Hyaluronic Acid Beta-Glucan, Organic Green Tea Extract, Olive Fruit Oil and more.

Endless Youth Midnight Magic night Cell Serum helps skin recover from daily stresses and renew any damage skin has endured during the day. With 16 powerful potent anti-gravity age fighters, Sesame molecules and botanical extracts rapidly help skin recover its youth.

A smooth cream that melts into your skin providing long-lasting protective hydration. Rich in botanical Hyaluronic Grape Flower Essence, it strengthens skin's ability to retain moisture and maintain its optimum hydration level, leaving skin looking plump, dewy.

The Hydra Velvety Soft Cream is catered for dry skin but if you are on the oilier side The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser is great. I use this one in Summer but find it not enough in Winter. Alternatively as previously mentioned you can add a few drops of an oil like the Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate and this will boost your moisturisers hydration efficiency.

Again, a moisturiser that is heavier and I only use in the colder season. This moisturiser intensely moisturises and plumps the skin leaving it feeling firmer and more radiant. Contains a combination of powerful ingredients like Royal Jelly, Acid Spheres and Micro Collagen which helps improves skin elasticity and firmness whilst asleep. Even though the night moisturiser is quite rich, I found my skin extremely soft, moisturised and radiant in the morning with no sign of greasiness or shine.

YSL Black Opium Glow Eau De Toilette
Swap your summer fragrances for something different like Glow. Entice your senses with Black Opium's signature top note of coffee with added pear that is enhanced by the citrus notes, settling on the skin into a sweet creamy woody base scent. This scent reminds me of beautiful blue skies, cool breeze and rugging up in a cuddly woollen jumper.

What are your beauty essentials?  Do you change your beauty regime each season?
