BRAND FOCUS: VEET - WAX AND CREAM HAIR REMOVAL

Veet has been around as long as I can remember. Mum has been using it since the 80s and then I began using it. The selection of products we have today is far bigger than 20 years ago.

There are two ranges that are available - Silk & Fresh Technology and Natural Inspirations Range.

Silk & Fresh Technology Range

Veet, has relaunched its popular creams with an innovative new formula: Silk & Fresh(™) Technology. While it removes hair effectively, the new range of Veet Hair Removal Cream also hydrates your skin for up to 24 hours. With it's new fragrance technology, it ensures that there will be no lingering mal-odour.

Veet Silk & Fresh (™) Creams work close to the root even on short hair, giving you smoothness for up to a week. Hair is removed just below the skin surface and regrows with rounded tips, meaning regrowth feels softer.

Veet creams are suitable for your legs, arms, underarms and bikini area. All creams are easy to apply and give you silky smooth, touchable skin.

The Veet Silk & Fresh (™) technology have five products in this range (including the one shown above) with another two joining the family in the near future.

Natural Inspirations Range

Veet's latest addition to their brand is a full range of natural hair removal solutions for your face and body. These divine smelling products contain naturally sourced ingredients like Shea Butter, Aloe Vera and Grape Seed Oil for all skin types.

Veet have a large selection of natural products in their range, from in-shower creams to small wax strips. They are just as effective as their original range.

Face, Bikini and Underarm Wax Strips
The face, bikini and underarm pack contains 20 wax strips and 4 finish wipes.  The mini strip size is perfect for those more delicate and smaller area of the body.

Natural Inspirations Wax Strips are easy, safe and convenient to use with minimal fuss or mess. There is no heating required.  You rub the wax strip between your hands to warm up the wax, and make the strips easy to separate, peel the strips apart and apply to the area you want hair removed. Rub the applied strip few of times in the direction of your hair growth to make sure the strip is well adhered. You then hold your skin taut and pull the strip back swiftly, against the direction the hair grows.  The faster you pull the more hair you'll remove.

After waxing, clean away any wax residue that is left on your skin with the Perfect Finish Wipes. The only downside is there are not enough finishing wipes for the pack.  Alternatively you can use baby oil as the wax won't come off with water, soap or alcohol.

Natural Inspirations Sugar Wax
This jar of soft wax contains Natural Argan Oil and is perfect for the legs, face and body.  Included in the box is a spatula with a temperature indicator (lets you know if the wax gets to hot!) and a pack of 12 fabric strips that are reusable.

Made with 100% naturally sourced ingredients, the wax easily washes off with water, so you can have a 'no mess, no fuss' experience every time in the comfort of your own home.

The colour and consistency is different from others that I have tried. Instead of the wax being hard this one is already soft.  You still need to heat in the microwave.

Before waxing ensure that your skin is free from creams and oils.

Before placing in the microwave, remove the foil seal from the Jar. All traces of foil must be removed before heating.

There are two ways you can heat the wax. Only use one method of heating: microwave or saucepan of boiling water. Do not switch between the different methods of heating even when reusing the product for several different applications.

Lucky for me I don't own a microwave so the stove will do.  After heating the wax, take care in handling it, as it may be hot.  Use the spatula end with the blue strip on it to gauge the temperature of the wax.

Always do a test patch before applying to any part of the body. If all is good then continue your waxing session. It is not recommended to wax the same area of skin twice during a waxing session as this may irritate the skin.

The Precision Spatula is adapted to different body parts. Always hold the spatula by the part with the Veet Logo:
  • Use the hollowed part to apply the wax on legs
  • Use the round part to apply the wax on underarms
  • Use the flat end to apply the wax on bikini line
  • Use the corner to apply on the Wax on the Upper Lip

Below is a drawing of spatula with arrows showing body parts adaptability Underarm, Bikini, Upper Lip, Legs.

To apply
Once you've got the correct part of the spatula ready, apply thin layers of wax onto your skin in the direction of hair growth. The thinner the layer, the more effective the results. The area covered by the wax should be shorter than the strips. Never cover the whole area with wax in one go.

To remove

Immediately place the strip over the layer of wax. Smooth the strip over the wax in the direction of hair growth. Hold the skin taut with one hand and with the other hand, grip the bottom of the strip. In one swift movement, remove the strip against the direction of hair growth.  The same strip can be used several times.

I did have good results with this product. My skin felt soft and moisturised - I can feel and see the difference in the outcome due to the Argan Oil in the product.

Guidelines on Heating the Wax
If you are using a microwave, always check the heating time with a watch. Ensure the jar is upright when removing from microwave and you do not tilt.

Recommended heating time
650W (Full Power)
Heating Times - Full jar: 60 seconds
Heating Times - Half jar: 40 seconds

850W (Full Power)
Heating Times - Full jar: 45 seconds
Heating Times - Half jar: 30 seconds

1000W (Full Power)
Heating Times - Full jar: 40 seconds
Heating Times - Half jar: 30 seconds

If you are heating on the stove, place sufficient water in a saucepan to heat the jar without allowing it to float. Do not cover the saucepan. Once the water has boiled, reduce the heat to minimum, add the jar and heat as per the table below.  Do not allow the water to come into contact with the wax or the wax to boil as this will render it ineffective.

Recommended heating time
Saucepan of hot water
Full jar: 10 minutes
Half jar: 5 minutes

For both heating methods use the end of the spatula with the blue square to stir the wax for about one minute, starting in the centre and working out towards the side of the jar.

If after a minute the word NO appears on the spatula end instead of the blue rectangle the wax is too hot. Wait until it cools down. Re-test the temperature by stirring the wax again with the spatula. The wax can be used when the word NO disappears from the spatula end, and the blue rectangle reappears. To speed up the cooling, continue to stir the wax with the spatula.

Always test the wax temperature by applying a small amount on the inside of your wrist to ensure that it is comfortable for use.
