Real Techniques have been hitting the mark on releasing hugely successful brush set combinations as well as sponge sets. Their current collection - By Sam & Nick is a more affordable collection in their extensive brushes range.
Here are two sets that I will be reviewing - Releasing Ultimate Base Set & Eyes & Miracle Mini eraser Sponge set.
Ultimate Base Set
- Expert face brush – ultra-firm and broad for buffing cream or liquid foundation
- Miracle complexion sponge – rounded side blends larger areas of the face, precision tip covers imperfections, and the flat edge contours around the eyes and the nose
- Deluxe concealer brush – dense, rounded bristles for well blended concealer application above and below the eye area
- Mirrored case
The case is slimline and folder-like which can be closed by a thick sturdy elastic.
I'm not a fan of the case as it is a bit of a struggle to get those brushes in but it's handy for those short trips if you only want to take the essentials. I love the wide mirror though, its great for a full face profile.
The Expert Face Brush is ultra-firm and broad perfect for buffing cream or liquid foundation all over the face. The firmness makes blending and buffing super easy giving me a more flawless finish.
I love the concealer brush, the bristles are short, dense and soft almost like a small, kabuki that allows you to apply concealer just where you need it, making it ideal for blending especially around the eye and nose area.
I have learnt to love complexion sponges after converting from fingers to sponge and finding that not only the application was easier and quicker but also results were far better when blending.
This sponge can be used damp or dry, but I prefer it damp for a more flawless coverage. After using my makeup brushes to apply the foundation I then use the complexion sponge to finish off my look and blending out any imperfections around eyes and nose area.
Miracle Mini Eraser Sponges
I'm quite excited about this egg-shaped purple mini sponges, they are so cute, versatile and very useful.
They erase makeup mishaps from flaking or smudging mascara to eye shadow fallout, these little miracles help sweep away your makeup mishaps.
As with all sponges there are various points on the sponge that have a specific job.
flat edges - erase
rounded sides - buff + blend
tip - targeted sweep
The flat sides are great for fixing eye-shadow fallout under eyes.
The rounded sides are made for buffing away any blush or contour residue on your cheeks and forehead and the tip is perfect to give you a more control when blending at the corner of the eyes, nose and around the lips.
These sponges offer the same results as the BeautyBlender but at a fraction of the price. With the money you save on purchasing a cheaper alternative, the more dosh you have for other beauty necessities!
