REVIEW: CURIOUS GRACE CERAMIC HAIR STYLING BRUSHES

Investing in quality hair products is only part of achieving and maintaining healthy hair. Having the right tools is what makes all the difference especially when styling.

I've never owned any fancy brushes and didn't realise how important having the right hair brush is for healthy hair and to achieve the style I want.  I solely relied on styling products, which at times, was hard work.

Curious Grace offer a wide range of hair styling tools, brushes and fun hair accessories at an affordable price. As they are new to the haircare market and are made in Korea, I knew that there was something special about this brand and I was curious to know more! Lately I have been obsessed with anything that comes out of Korea, they are the leaders in beauty innovation and technology!

Within their collection there is a Ceramic Heat Styling Brushes range specifically for wet to dry hair.

What makes these ceramic heat styling brushes unique is that the ceramic barrels on these brushes emit negative ions when heated, leaving hair looking shiny and frizz-free. They also contain nano-silver which means that it kills 99.99% of bacteria, keeping your scalp and hair free from nasties.

Ceramic Fixed Bristle Brush - Straightening and Curling

This is an large round brush. Something I am not used to using. It took a bit of time to get the hand of it. The cylinder has a hollow head with vents around the brush allowing for the decrease in drying time. It has polished bristles for a healthier scalp and is heat resistant. The durable nylon bristles are specifically for use with thermal styling products.  Retailing at $30.95, definitely a good investment.

Ceramic Boar & Nylon Brush - De-Frizzing & Quick Drying

Perfect for curly/frizzy/hard to manage hair. The brush is solid and lightweight. The bristles are 100% boar and Nylon.  Boar bristles are known to make hair shiny, and seal the cuticles making hair look healthier.   It's made with heat resistant and durable nylon bristles which is made specifically for thermal styling products.

This brush is on point for my hair as I have thick frizzy wavy hair.  Retailing at $26.95, it's definitely affordable especially for the quality of the brush you're getting.

Curious Grace is available from Hairhouse Warehouse or online at www.hairhousewarehouse.com.au

REVIEW: RIMMEL LONDON HIGHLIGHTER COLLECTION INCLUDING THE KATE SCULPTING PALETTE

Highlighting and contouring are all the rage right now and with so many products to choose from we can all be our own expert at perfecting the contoured look.

This month Rimmel have released several star products to add to their ever growing, ever amazing range. I've got three products to swatch and road test - Brow This Way Highlighting Pencil, Good to Glow Highlighter and Kate Sculpting Highlighter Palette.

Brow This Way Highlighting Pencil

Brow This Way Highlighting Pencil is a creamy pencil that glides on the brow bone easily for added impact through its soft gold shimmer illumination. Even though it says it's for the brow, it can be used in other areas of the face you want to highlight.  Apart from the brow bone I've also applied it on the side of my nose and jowl lines.

I love pencil/chubby stick highlighters because they are super quick and easy to use. They are creamier making it easier to blend.  The highlighting pencil comes in two shades, Pink Matte and Gold Shimmer.  The one pictured above is in Gold Shimmer.  I also love this colour it perfectly suits my olive skin.

Good To Glow
The Rimmel London is Good to Glow is an instant, buildable liquid illuminator and highlighter.  Available in two different shades in Australia, 001 Notting Hill Glow, 003 Soho Glow.  There is a third one but it wasn't released in Australia, it is 002 Piccadilly Glow.  Colour shown and swatch is 001 Notting Hill.

It contains light reflecting pigments to give skin that radiant luminous look, that looks natural without being too overly shimmery. The texture is super lightweight making it comfortable to wear all day.

It can be worn on its own to emphasise the high points of the face/decolletage or mixed with foundation/moisturiser to create an all over glow.

There are no rules on where you should apply. Experimenting is the fun part. I applied it on the bridge of my nose, above my lip and along my cheekbones. It's lightweight texture blends effortlessly creating a long lasting glow that livens up any look.

Rimmel Kate Sculpting Highlighter Palette

Another fab collab with Kate Moss. The Kate Sculpting Highlighter Palette is available in Coral Glow. Again, three shade options to choose from overseas, 001 Golden Sands, 002 Coral Glow and 003 Golden Bronze. Colour pallete shown and swatched is Coral Glow

The palette comes with a highlight, contour and blush shade. The highlight shade is a subtle champagne with a yellowy undertone and a subtle soft shimmer, perfect to highlight the cheek bone, brow bone, forehead, centre of chin and bridge of the nose.

The contour shade is a warm shimmery brown. The blush a is a matte coral pink which is nicely pigmented giving good colour and definition.

On the back of the palette there are easy to follow instructions on how to use the palette.  The palette is flattering and foolproof to use especially for a novice like me, so go easy and just build your colour until it's what you want.

REVIEW: SPEICK - A NATURAL CHOICE FOR MEN IN SHAVING

Occasionally I receive products for men to review which is a great as it gives variety on my blog. Hubby loves it when new products arrive for him as he love discovering new brands and products as much as I do.

Speick is a small family owned business from Germany. With over 85 years in the industry of personal care products and using only natural ingredients, Speick has a holistic approach that dates all the way back to its founder.   Speick formulations are unique when using ingredients, this is what makes Speick products very popular in Europe.

The Name
Speick (pronounced ‘Spike') is a rare botanical plant (also known as Valeriana celtica) that has therapeutic properties and the brand name was derived from this plant.

The fascinating aspect of Speick as a medicinal plant is its balancing effect. It has a calming effect on the central nervous system while simultaneously stimulating the vegetative nervous system. Speick relaxes without tiring and revitalises the body and mind.

Speick has an extensive range of products for men ranging from skincare, shaving products, fragrances and deodorants. There are two ranges for men, Speick Men and Speick Men Active.

My partner has trialled and provided me with feedback on two products I received.

Shaving Cream
The shaving cream has a spicy scent, it almost has a hint of menthol to it. It is a classic, manly, spicy, punchy and a bit old-fashioned fragrance.

It has an opalesence colour which is really nice.

Lathering takes very little work creating a lovely thick lather on the face making shaving a breeze. The blade moved smoothly on the skin.  There was no burning or irritation and it seems to give a nice mild cooling sensation.

I was intrigued so I used it when shaving my legs.  I have to say it felt really luxe using this and made shaving my legs a lot easier.  I have tried a few shaving cream for ladies and this one is definitely better than what I have experienced.

Active After Shave Balsam
The After Shave Balsam soothes even sensitive skin. It has a light lotion texture containing organic aloe vera gel and soothing witch hazel extract.  This product smells a lot like the brand Jurlique.

Hubby doesn't usually use after shave lotion but he really liked that way this one felt on his skin.  It's refreshing on the skin after shaving. No breakouts or skin irritation was experienced.  Apply to a clean shaven face, lightly massaging with your hands until the balsam is absorbed. There is no residue or stickiness felt on the skin.

PRICES
Speick Men Active After Shave Balsam - RRP $29.95
Speick Men Shaving Cream - RRP $10.95

Speick can be purchased online or from a number of stores.  For more info on Speick and stockists visit. http://www.helioshealth.com.au

REVIEW: BILLIE GOAT SOAP SKINCARE RANGE

Life can be a constant battle for people suffering from eczema. The effect it has on the skin, including inflammation, dryness and constant irritation, is a painful daily reality for thousands of Australians.  I for one know what it's like but I am very fortunate that the eczema my son has is very mild and easily treatable.

Billie Goat Soap has discovered the benefits of goats milk in helping to relieve skin conditions including eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis. Beginning with one revolutionary bar of soap, Billie Goat Soap has since launched a variety of products that continue to help eczema sufferers in their everyday life.

They use the highest quality ingredients, including premium oils and extracts derived from nature as well as fresh Australian goats milk, and combine them in unique manufacturing methods, keeping the goodness in and the nasties out.   The brand is 100% Australian owned and Australian made, free from sulphates, mineral oils, parabens and artificial colours and fragrances.

Billie Goat Soap not only have products for the body but for the face as well, which I wasn't aware of until I received my package. All their products have a pH level very close to that of human skin so it doesn’t disturb the skins natural pH balance.  This is one thing I love about blogging is discovering the amazing products that are out there in the market.

All products I am reviewing were used on myself as well as my son.  Before I put anything on my child I always do my research and if it's safe for children then you know the product is good.

Natural Zinc Sunscreen Lotion

This natural zinc sunscreen lotion is dermatologically tested and has SPF 30.  It contains goats milk to soften and moisturise, aloe vera to calm and nourish and calendula to condition and soothe irritated skin.  It's suitable for all skin types and is water resistant for up to four hours.

The sunscreen lotion is quite thick but has a lightweight consistency, absorbing quickly and blending nicely onto my skin.  There is no heaviness or oily feeling on the skin.  Usually my son has a minor breakout with sunscreen but with this sunscreen lotion I found his skin soft and calm without any skin irritation.

Hydrating Face Serum

Billie Goat Soap Hydrating Serum is rich in goats milk and contains multivitamins to deeply nourish and renew dull, dehydrated skin. Contains a combination of ingredients like Pro-vitamin E, Glycerine and Australian Kakadu Plum.

Glycerine assists in building an even skin structure and revitalises dryness, while the richness of Vitamin C in Australian Kakadu Plum works to brighten and firm the skin, as well as prevent signs of ageing, including age spots.

This serum is lightweight with a gel-like texture and cloudy in appearance.  The skin absorbs it immediately leaving the skin soft and cool.

Hydrating Facial Night Cream

Billie Goat Soap Hydrating Night Cream is a deeply moisturising evening cream designed especially for those with very dry skin needing extra care.

Rich in goats milk and olive oil, grape seed and coconut oils, to deeply hydrate your skin while you sleep.  The texture is quite thick but surprisingly the skin absorbs it without leaving a greasy film on the skin.  When I wake up in the morning my skin feels soft, supple and smooth to touch.

Gentle Cream Face Cleanser

Billie Goat Soap Gentle Cream Face Cleanser is a light, creamy milk cleanser that soothes and moisturises dry, sensitive skin. It removes dirt, grime without stripping away skin's natural oils, leaving skin feeling clean, fresh and hydrated.

The formula contains goats milk, sweet almond oil, jojoba oil, aloe vera and pro-vitamin E.  It is ideal for sensitive and eczema-prone skin. The cleanser is white and has a lotion consistency.   It does say that it removes makeup but I found that this wasn't effective enough to remove my makeup but effective enough to cleanse the skin.

Intensive Hand Cream

Billie Goat Soap Intensive Hand Cream is a moisturising hand cream formulated with natural properties of goat's milk. It contains a blend of ingredients including sweet almond, macadamia, and argan oil, and moisturising shea butter.

The hand cream has a medium consistency but is lightweight, absorbs quickly into the skin leaving no greasiness or residue behind.  It's the perfect size to fit into any handbag.

Billie Goat Soap in Lavender

I've used and known about the Billie Goat Soap for years, it is one of the very few soap bars on the market that does not leave my son's skin dry.  When he was younger he used to love playing with it in the bathtub, it was expensive as we would go through heaps of the bars because of the amount of time it stayed in the water.

It is enriched with high concentrations of goats milk and olive oil to soften and nourish the skin.  The scent of lavender provides comfort and calmness.  The texture is the same as the plain goat soap. This is the first time I have come across the lavender soap.  I really love the smell.

These soap bars are also great to ward off moths and silverfish.  If your clothes are prone to getting holes, store these soaps in it's boxes in your cupboard and drawers and the lavender will keep the bugs away.

RRP Prices
Natural Zinc Sunscreen Lotion - $24.95
Hydrating Face Serum - $16.95
Hydrating Facial Night Cream - $16.95
Gentle Cream Face Cleanser - $12.95
Intensive Hand Cream - $9.95

REVIEW: GORGEOUS HEALTHY THICK HAIR WITH VIVISCAL

Global hair brand Viviscal have developed a two-dimensional approach to hair care. The award-winning, scientifically formulated Viviscal hair growth program is backed by 25 years of research and development and seven published clinical trials.

The Viviscal range consists of;

Hair Growth Supplements which promotes healthy hair growth on the inside

Gorgeous Growth Shampoo, Conditioner and Elixir which promotes the appearance of healthy hair growth. Conceal & Densify Fibres to instantly volumise and make hair look thicker and fuller.

Viviscal is a brand that I have heard about but know very little of, so when I received these products I began my research to understand the brand. I knew I was the perfect candidate as my hair had dramatically thinned out on top over the years and more so since having my son.

I begin my trial with the shampoo and conditioner.  Both contain the same ingredients - Ana:Tel, a proprietary complex that includes ingredients derived from natural sources, such as pea sprouts and grape seeds. as well as extending the hair growth phase and reduces the hair fall.  Combined with biotin, keratin and zinc, it promotes the appearance of healthy looking hair growth.

Densifying Shampoo

The Gorgeous Growth Densifying Shampoo gently cleanses the hair and scalp, helping hair to look fuller and thicker. The botanical fragrance leaves hair infused with a refreshing unusual scent. Usually I can pinpoint a fragrance but with this one I can't.

I have been trialling the shampoo for two weeks. On my first use, the shampoo felt cooling on the scalp. My hair felt really clean and denser. My hair did not feel dry or knotty, it felt nice to touch.

Densifying Conditioner

The Gorgeous Growth Densifying Conditioner is designed to provide weightless moisture to hair, leaving it looking and feeling fuller, thicker and shiny.

I loved the way this conditioner felt on my hair.  After rinsing, my hair felt really conditioned and soft but not heavy or oily.  My hair had a thick feeling to it like it had been coated with some goodness.

Densifying Elixir

The Gorgeous Growth Densifying Elixir is a leave-in treatment for thicker and fuller looking hair. The elixir has a thin serum-like consistency.  This has the same scent as the shampoo and conditioner.

After washing my hair I applied some elixir mid to ends before blow drying and styling.  The product did not feel greasy and I was surprised to find that straightening was so much easier and my hair looked amazing healthy and shiny.  My hair stayed that way for at least 3 days.  Normally after the second day my hair starts to look flat.

Conceal & Densify

The Conceal & Densify Volumising Fibres is a powder formula to help instantly make thinning hair look thicker and fuller.

The precision comb applicator delivers a controlled amount of microscopic electrostatically charged fibres that instantly bind to the hair follicle, creating a volumised look.

This stuff is amazing.  My hair can get quite flat looking by the second day, this product is like dry shampoo but better.  After applying to the roots, my hair literally look fuller and stayed that way till the next day.  I normally use dry shampoo and hair spray to fluff my hair.

It's simple to use, you squeeze the bottle so the micro powder is released and comb it through your hair to fix the fibres in place .  The fibres attach to the hair giving it an instant fullness.

What's even great is that it's wind and rain resistant, so your hair won't go all weird if the weather changes and it washes out easily with shampoo.

Even though my hair is medium brown I found the light brown formula to be suitable as I do have highlights.

It comes in 4 different natural looking shades including black, dark brown, light brown, blonde.

Maximum Strength Hair Growth Supplement

Viviscal Maximum Strength Dietary Hair Growth Supplements are specifically formulated to nourish hair, support healthy hair growth and combat hair loss in women with thinning hair.

It contains AminoMar C, Biotin and Zinc, which nourishes the hair and scalp, and supports healthy hair growth from within in women with thinning hair. Viviscal also have supplements for men.

It is recommended to take two tablets daily (1 morning & 1 evening) for a minimum of 3-6 months.

I commenced taking these supplements two weeks ago, it takes months to see results but there is no harm in trialling these. I did do my research though, that is with any tablets or vitamins I pop into my body to make sure there wasn't anything in them that could upset my tummy or skin. So I gave myself the greenlight as Viviscal is simply a dietary supplement that promotes hair growth. No drugs meaning no side effects!

Overall, I am fairly impressed by the immediate results I experienced with this range especially the fullness which I found difficult to maintain when using other products.  As for the supplements I am intrigued and will continue to take the whole course.

Gorgeous Growth Densifying Elixir - $34.95
