KLORANE, CAUDALIE, EVIAN, SWISSPERS AND MORE - My Latest Beauty Haul for October

I have spent quite a bit this month on beauty products, mainly from New Caledonia.  I have just come back from a cruise which had a day stopover in Noumea.  After sight seeing I headed for the first pharmacy I found to see what products they stocked.  There were loads of French brands that I literally wanted to buy the whole pharmacy, luckily my man immediately snapped me out of it as he could see I was being blinded by love and getting carried away.

Back in 2001 when we lived overseas in Europe, my cousin owned a beauty salon which housed all the best french brands available.  Unbeknown to me how sought after they were and their costs as I was not aware of these brands back then, I was fortunate enough to receive a generous amount for free and used them whilst travelling.  Years later, these brands and products are known around the world, some becoming iconic like Klorane.

This is one of my favourite brands Caudalie.  Their products range from skincare to bodycare. This soap smells divine.

I'm in love with the body wash from Klorane, already a fan of most of their products, I can't wait till it is available here.

Another gorgeous body wash, this product was free. The promotion was buy two get one free, so I purchased the two Klorane and I selected Laino as the free product. I haven't tried anything from this brand before so this prompted me to pick it.

I also hadn't heard of Uriage before so I picked one product out of the entire range that would be easy to use.

A-Derma another brand I hadn't heard of and wasn't sure what I buy so I decided on the soothing facial spray.

Mud mask from Laino, I couldn't resist.  Facial mud masks in Green Tea and Sweet orange.

Green Clay & Pink Clay

These are the best, during our stopover in Fiji I picked up these amazing extra long hair pins by Mita (Mcpherson's Consumer Products).  They are 8cm long and perfect for long, thick hair.  I use pins regularly and usually have several in my hair, but with these monsters I only need two.  If these exist in Oz I am amazed I hadn't come across these.

The pharmacist was so please with my purchased he threw in some samples!  My total spend was roughly $70.

Since my return home, I went through all my mail and came across Chemist Warehouse catalogue specials.  I immediately circled several products that I needed to get as they were on special.

Items I purchased were Swisspers Limited Edition Beauty Bag containing all the essentials you need with a really pretty carry bag for $16.69, Amele pack of 20 personal wipes $4.69, Organix shampoo and conditioner $13.99 each, Dove deodorant at $2.99 and Evian facial spray, two for $20, BARGAIN!  I normally purchase Avene facial sprays but couldn't resist the special and I have never tried Evian before.

All available at Chemist Warehouse

Realistically, do I need anymore products?  NO.  I have a cupboard full, almost enough to open up my own store, but beauty is my weakness and passion so its justified.

ASAP Super B Complex Review

I’ve been using ASAP Super B Complex for around a month.  ASAP Super B Complex is a hydrating serum containing a high concentration of Niacinamide (B3), B5 and B9 known to boost hydration, giving you a more even-toned complexion, reduce redness and even strengthen your skin’s outer protective barrier.  It also works to reduce the appearance of skin discolouration and redness across all skin types including acne-prone, and features a cross-linked Hyaluronic Acid with 5 times the moisturising power and 50 times the moisture retaining properties of traditional formulations.

Its benefits skin by stimulating collagen production, improving skin repair & skin tone, energising & revitalising the skin, reducing fine lines & wrinkles, help to decrease acne severity and boosts skins natural hydration.

The texture of the serum is smooth and silky and instantly absorbs in the skin. The serum fragrance is pleasant and subtle.  The serum is applied each night on cleansed skin before moisturiser.  I use Super B Complex 5 out of the 7 days in a week, the other two days I alternate with super A+ serum to maximise the results.  After two weeks I found my complexion to be softer and smoother with a healthy and radiant glow. My skin no longer looked dehydrated and the appearance of fine lines were softer.

Four weeks on, my pores have reduced in size and there has been a marked improvement in my skin's overall clarity and tone.

My goal for my skin is to find products that improve the condition and help me reduce the number of products I use to achieve optimum results and I believe this product is one of them.  ASAP super B complex is suitable for all skin types and ages.

Overall rating 4/5

ASAP Super A+ Serum Review

We all want to look as young as we feel, but unfortunately skin ageing seems an inevitable part of life. Sun exposure, lifestyle choices and the environment can all take its toll.  So how can we take control and combat the visible signs of ageing? The answer, Vitamin A.

Combining high strength Vitamin A with a cutting-edge biomimetic peptide, ASAP super A+ serum improves and accelerate skin’s renewal process, visibly reducing the appearance of pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles.

This anti-ageing serum works overnight to help hydrate, repair and regenerate environmentally damaged skin while stimulating collagen production and accelerating skin cell turnover. Its revolutionary, non-irritating formulation is suitable for all skin types and visibly improves skin texture.

I used the Super A+ serum for over 4 weeks, which allowed the benefits to be visibly seen. I originally applied the serum every night but found it a little too active for my skin so I applied it every 3rd night which was more suitable for me. Everyone is different and you need to experiment to what best suits your skin. The persistence is definitely worth it. Regardless of what products I was using I hadn't seen such amazing results so quickly. My skin is smoother and brighter and fine lines softened, which is a plus.

ASAP super A+ serum is ideal for older, prematurely aged skin or skin that has lost its vitality, elasticity and moisture.   I recommend using the Super B complex in conjunction with the Super A+ serum to maximise the benefits.  (See Super B complex review here).

THALGO HYALURONIC MASK REVIEW

As the skin ages over the years, its needs become more intense and changes gradually accumulate such as loss of firmness on the eyelids, facial contours and the neck. The skin loses its original tone, colour and radiance, all heightening the appearance of ageing.

This is why it is important to give your beauty regime an overhaul every few years, to make sure we are giving our skin exactly what it needs.

Thalgo Hyaluronic Mask is an instant wrinkle filling gel mask, strengthened with firming Marine Hyaluronic Acid immediately smoothes your skin and fills in your wrinkles, leaving skin feeling refreshed and tone. Perfect for those who need an instant pick me up.  Ideal for any skin types and a must for over 30s.

The thick clear consistency of the gel mask is cooling and subtly scented.  I applied the mask on my face and left it on for almost 20 minutes.  My skin felt a little tingly and occasionally needed a little scratch here and there.  After I cleansed my face with luke warm water, I stood in front on the mirror poking and squeezing my skin and admiring the softness of my wrinkles.

Here are before and after shots of my lip  and mouth area that I got the best results from that could be seen clearly in a photo.  The fine wrinkles on my forehead had also soften and become less visible, but I got better results around the mouth area which I am very pleased.

I having been using the Hyaluronic mask once a week. I found that my makeup sits better on my skin. Since using the Hyaluronic mask I no longer use a primer, which is great as I am not a big fan of primers but occassionally I need to use it for my makeup to look a lot smoother, so this product is great and perfect for skin preparation for any special event.  It is not a permanent fix for wrinkles, it will not fade your lines permanently or reduce them it is purely a temporary fix with amazing results.

SCHOLL EXPRESS PEDI REVIEW

This is one product I couldn't wait to purchase at Priceline and it certainly didn't disappoint.

Express Pedi was specifically developed for the professional removal of hard skin at home. The special roller surface makes it easy to effectively get rid of hard skin. A safety stop ensures safe use. This device is an ideal solution for removing hard skin from your feet in your own home.

Apart from using Milky foot every couple of months (read review here) to maintain feet softness, I try to exfoliate my feet several times a week.  When I say try that's exactly what I mean, TRY.  It becomes to difficult to scrub my feet in the shower so I make a mental note to do it when I'm out of the shower and 9 times out of 10 I forget or can't be bothered.  So when this Scholl device came out, I thought my prayers had been answered.

With it's rotating file, it takes the hard work out of filing and scrubbing feet and reducing the possibility of pulling a muscle.

With its ergonomic grip this battery operated foot file, you  roll it up and down the foot, including toes and it gently removes the dead skin and in 10 minutes your feet look in tip top condition.  When moisturising your feet the lotion is more likely to be absorbed and be more effective than if you applied cream on hard skin.

Blades are replaceable and available at all pharmacies.

Please note that if you have really thick hard skin it may take a few filing sessions to see a good result. This is why I think this is a perfect maintenance tool in conjunction with Milky Foot.

My overall rating 3.5/5

Clinique Chubby Stick Review

I have been dying to try the new chubbies by Clinique.  I remember a long long time ago when the chubbies were in and all brands were chubby eye pencils/crayons, then they disappeared from the market and were replaced with twisting crayons and pencils that were much thinner. Of course we all adapted to the new and improved products that came on the market but I always missed the ease of using a thick eye pencil.

Finally, my prayers had been answered and Clinique reintroduced their chubbies, starting a new trend of eye crayons.  These fantastic chubby sticks were recently launched in July and have been very successful (no surprise there).  There are twelve shades in the range.

The chubby twists up and down easily, so there is no need for a sharpener. The dome head of the pencil follows the natural curve and contour of the eyes beautifully, allowing easy, mistake-proof application.

The colour goes on lightly and can be gradually darken by repeat use without irritating the eyelid due to its soft and smooth creamy texture. It’s a soft almost powdery feel and sets shortly afterwards and does not fade with touch, lasting all day.  The best thing about this product is that no blending is required!

As you can see from my photos (do not look at the brows, they need plucking!) one eye was done in around a minute.  Usually when applying shadow I could be in the bathroom for around 10 minutes applying and blending.

Sheraton on the Park Day Spa Review

I'm all for luxury treatments and spa's. Indulging in facials, massages and treatments is not just good for our wellbeing but for our soul.  We all work so hard and tend to neglect the signs our body is giving us to slow down and relax.  So, when I was invited to experience a spa treatment at the Sheraton On The Park, there was no need to think about it, I was already there.

Sheraton On The Park Rejuvenation Day Spa is situated on the top floor of the hotel.  The treatment rooms peacefully overlook Hyde Park and Sydney Harbour creating a stunning backdrop where you can let go and blissfully indulge.

The Day Spa recently introduced a new couple’s suite to its luxurious On The Park Rejuvenation Day Spa. Designed exclusively as an indulgent haven for two, it offers couples an enticing destination for enjoying quality rest and relaxation. Choices include either a massage or facial tailored to your needs, with luxurious Thalgo products or soothing aromatherapy oils used to relax and unwind.  What is also included is access to the range of facilities offered at On The Park Rejuvenation Day Spa, including the health club, rooftop swimming pool and Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room.

Unfortunately, I only got to experience the treatment room as I didn't bring my swimmers to submerge myself in their amazing indoor rooftop swimming pool.

Hubby and I were excited to experience the Couple's Retreat as it has been a while since we have had time alone without the boy.

Upon entering the Day Spa we were warmly greeted by staff and guided to the change rooms with our robes and slippers to change into.  We were then taken to our treatment room where there were two beds with an amazing view.

Music was soothing, the scent of oils in the air and the million dollar view all played part of the relaxation process, allowing my body to instantly relax and unwind. The massage was firm but relaxing, from head to feet including fingers and toes. I found myself drifting in and out of short spurts of sleep. The 60 minute went super fast and felt like I was there for only 10 minutes.

Once we collected our thoughts and got dressed we were given a glass of champagne and escorted to the balcony to admire the amazing night skyline.

With life being so fast-paced it is a rare occurrence to find one hour to cut yourself off from the world and truly relax, that is why this is truly a must have experience to share with your partner.

To celebrate the opening of the Retreat, Sheraton on the Park has created its signature “You, Me & High Tea” package for $345 per couple. The package includes a soothing 60 minute massage or facial for two, followed by a decadent High Tea in the hotel’s sophisticated The Gallery Tea Lounge.
