Lancome, Mecca Cosmetica & Chanel - November Beauty Haul Part 2

I've been a little busy and haven't been able to put time aside to show my second part of my November beauty haul. Being so close to Christmas I have barely found time to pamper myself and use my wonderful products until now.

In the month of November I spent a fairly large amount of dosh on prods, mainly on higher end brands. Check out my November Haul Part 1 for brands I purchased on the cheap.

Lancôme Dreamtone & Limited Edition Beauty Case
I attended a VIP event at Lancôme for customers and purchased a couple of items.  First up is Lancôme Dreamtone.

On the night for any purchases made, customer were able to buy the makeup case for only $110. Normally it is only available with fragrance purchase, so I took advantage of the deal and bought it.

Came with this cute brush set as well!

The makeup palette is stunning, it is what caught my eye and convinced me to purchase the kit.

Estée Lauder Modern Muse
I really love this scent. It is so soft and delicate and compliments my skin.

I purchased the 50ml and received a gift with purchase a large vial to carry in my bag, 2.9ml of perfume.

Glamglow
At the beginning of the year I did a post on Glamglow Youthmud (you can read it here), I was truly impressed by the product and disappointed at the same time as I found it to be too active for my cheeks. As the result were amazing, I couldn't give this product up so I only apply it around my face and avoid the cheeks.

I wanted to also try their other mud mask called Supermud. It wasn't yet available in Australia at the time, so when it arrived I went straight to Mecca Cosmetica to pick up a tub for $75. What I did get for an extra $5 was the pack, which included a small tub of Youthmud. Bargain!

Here is a lovely photo of moi, with Youthmud on my face and Supermud on the more sensitive areas.

The results, slightly pink cheeks, a better result from the Youthmud and glowing skin.  Love this product.

Lastly, my favourite luxe brand Chanel No 5 Hair Mist.

Lightly fragrances the hair.  It doesn't flatten, dry out or make the hair look oily or dirty.  It is weightless, and dries instantly.  When I use this I get a whiff of the scent every so often and I love that my hair smells like No 5!

The month of November has been pretty bad in the spending department.  There has been so many specials and great deals that I couldn't resist the opportunity snapping up my favourite products.

I have a few items still on my wish list but I will leave it for Santa to surprise me.  Until my next haul update, have a wonderful Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

Australian Certified Organic Review

In recent years consumers (including myself) are becoming increasingly more aware of the items we purchase and the food we eat.  We are constantly searching for products that are cruelty free, free range, hormone and GM free, with hours wasted scanning labels and rummaging through shelves.

There is a lot of confusion around food and their organic nature.  Some products claiming that they are organic but not certified or are partially organic.  It is not only daunting but confusing.

That is why it is important when selecting the right items we need to look out for the 'Australian Certified Organic' Logo.

In November, not for profit organisation Australian Certified Organic launched a new campaign fronted by celebrity chef and Australian Organic Ambassador Pete Evans.  This campaign educates Australians about how to purchase 100% honest organic products and what certified organic really means.

The One Logo Says It All campaign shows Australians what to look for when purchasing organic products to ensure we can be confident in our choices.

Purchasing products that carry the Australian Certified Organic' Logo not only saves us time at the store but guarantees the product to be free range, GM free, pasture-fed, water efficient and biodiversity friendly as well as grown free from synthetic pesticides, herbicides, hormones and antibiotics.

Here is an example of some amazing products that carry the Australian Certified Organic logo.

The Australian Certified Organic logo can be found in all major and independent retailers across the country.

LUMINESCE for Face and Body by Jeunesse Review

Seeing signs of fine lines, skin sagging and pigmentation can be depressing and we automatically go on the hunt for products to delay the ageing process. So when Jeunesse Luminesce arrived at my desk I was super excited to give it a go.

The Jeunesse Youth Enhancement System uses DNA repair and antioxidant ingredients to improve cell performance and longevity. Our patent-pending Stem Cell Innovation helps generate new, vital skin cells in the first place.

New cell growth is an essential part of life—it’s how we grow from child to adult. But as we age and our growing decelerates, so does the production of new cells. At the same time, our body’s cells themselves age and their functions begin to slow. When it comes to our skin, it can lead to a dull, sagging complexion on the outside and cells that can’t efficiently accept nutrients and remove toxins on the inside.

Luminesce Advanced Night Repair combines the expertise and technologies of renowned physicians, to works while you sleep. This powerful cosmeceutical is designed to enhance specific metabolic pathways involved in the ageing process. It includes naturally derived ingredients that combat the appearance and signs of premature ageing.

I road tested Luminesce Advanced Night Repair for three weeks and the first thing I noticed was how soft and supple my skin felt and looked in the morning.  The texture felt smooth and soft.  The moisturiser absorbed within minutes leaving no residue.  It comes with a spatula so you don't have to dunk your dirty little mits into the jar keeping it free from bacteria.

With my skin being less irritated, especially in the morning, there was little redness on the cheeks and chin to deal with.  The fine lines around my forehead and mouth have noticeably softened as well.

As you can see in the photo, the consistency is quite light and transparent-like.

Luminesce Advanced Night Repair is suitable for all skin types and anyone who is concerned about signs of ageing.  It retails for $79.15.

Luminesce Essential Body Renewal delivers the ultimate in deep hydration. This exclusive body lotion has been specially formulated with optimal ingredients under the expertise of world-renowned dermatologist Dr Nathan Newman to help boost collagen formation, improve skin elasticity, and protect against the signs of premature ageing. It gently nourishes, restores, and softens all skin types, particularly in rough and dry areas, without clogging your pores.

The tall slim tube is sleek and elegant with a twist lid that disperses the product out of a small hole, love it! There is no fiddling with lids that fall under the dresser or attempting to put it back on. The lotion has a thin consistency and is lightly fragranced. You only need a small amount to cover a large surface area and the lotion is absorbed almost immediately. There is no residue left on my skin.

I have to admit, moisturising my body is one of those things that I tend to neglect or forget as I'm over it after having to do my hair, face and then moisturising my hands and feet. I found that even though I sometimes forget to use Luminesce essential body renewal, my skin still felt soft and smooth.  It retails for $48.35.

Overall I have been very pleased with these quality products.

Arbonne Cosmetics - Concealer, Lip Liner & Lipstick Review

I'm always on the hunt for different beauty products especially when there is a story behind the brand. Arbonne was founded in Switzerland in 1975.  Arbonne products use botanical ingredients and is still a family own and run business.

I was super pleased to have the opportunity to trial three products.

Concealer
Arbonne's Creme Concealer is a soothing botanical and vitamin-infused Concealer that is designed to mask imperfections, fine lines, dark circles and puffiness. The shade I received is medium, which suits my skin perfectly.

The concealer has a nice creamy texture, feeling soft and smooth. It  goes on the skin easily.  I used very little product and the concealer has covered up the imperfections around my eye.  It dries to a powdery finish, which is great as I have combination skin which tends to lean to the oilier side in summer.

I have been using this product for over a week now and I like how my eye area isn't dry.  The concealer doesn't absorb the moisture, leaving the eye area moisturised and fresh.

As you can see in the before and after shots the eye area is now more even toned.

The concealer comes in three shades: Light, Medium and Dark and retails for $33.

Lip liner
Arbonne's range of lip liners is a precise definer for the perfect pout, creating a smooth edge and colour application.  I love the twist crayon which is thin making it easy for me to apply.  The colour I have is Pink Mauve and works perfectly with their Rose Petal lipstick.  I really liked the lip liner, it was soft to apply and didn't feel dry (hey that rhymes!).

The lip liner comes in six shades and retails for $33.

Lipstick
Arbonne's range of intensely hydrating and moisturising lipsticks are designed to be long wearing without losing lip colour as well as having added health benefits.

The colour I shown is called Rose Petal.  It is a soft pink.  The lipstick is creamy and I love that it is not as thick as other brands, which is better for precision.  It glides perfectly and smoothly over the lips making them feel soft and conditioned.  Even though the colour is quite light it is highly pigmented with a semi shine.

Here you can see the semi shine highly pigmented lipstick and the lip liner colour.

There are 14 shades to choose from and retails for $37.

Overall I really like these products and brand.  I have to admit I have never heard of Arbonne until I came across these products.  The quality is definitely there, the packaging is compact and is ergonomically comfortable to hold and with a great selection of colours, this brand is definitely a winner.

Overall Rating - 5/5

Sally Hansen, Borghese, Mavala - My November Beauty Haul

Recently I went on a nail polish shopping frenzy.  I seriously needed a slap in the face to snap out of it.

Have you ever realised when something was hard to get, you wanted it even more?  Well that is what happened to me.  It started off with hunting down Mavala nail polishes.  I went to several pharmacies and none of them stocked the brand.  I was even more determined to find them.  After a week of popping into several pharmacies that I happened to come across I finally found the range in Broadway.

Here are the three colours I chose:

There wasn't much to choose from as their stock was quite low, but I do love my choices.  Mango Orange and Adelaide have a pearl through them and Blue Curacao is creamy opaque.  I have to say I really like this size, its compact and I can buy a lot more of them and it won't look like I have hundreds (well I do).

On my pharmacy hopping trips I did, I came across a brand that I haven't see in years.  Back in the late 90s and early 00s, Borghese was everywhere.  So I was surprised to see that Chemist Warehouse had a stash of the nail polish at a ridiculous price of $3 each.  So I bought the only two colours they had.

I really like the Violette pearl.  Its thick and dries really quick but as for the emerald colour, it took ages to dry and I needed like 4 coats for it to not look streaky and it still didn't look good.

My latest buying craze was when Priceline (Damn you) had 40% off all cosmetics.  I really tried not to go but couldn't resist so on the last day I stocked up on seven nail polishes and two eye shadows.  If it wasn't for my son busting to go to the loo I think it would of been more.

Most of them were Sally Hansen, I just couldn't move past this section as I love their products.  I eventually did go through all the other brands but I found Sally Hansen to be the best value and they had the colours I was after.

Now just to show you my collection. Most are Chanel, but I am starting to broaden my horizons with other brands and I'm loving it.

This is only half the collection as image is at least 1 1/2 yrs old

Here is a pic of my other colours and brands that I own.

So you can see how my collection of different brands of polish has grown so rapidly.  Remember, I do not have a nail polish problem, I appreciate colour.

Goodyear Women with Drive Workshop Launch

Last week I was invited to preview the 'Women with Drive' workshop. Designed for women, Goodyear Autocare are giving us girls the opportunity to learn more about vehicle maintenance from checking your water levels, to changing a tyre.

Growing up in the 80s, cars were easier to maintain and checking oil and water was a cinch due to the simplicity of the components under the bonnet.  Today, majority of cars are computerised with lots of confusing black boxes under the bonnet leaving us afraid to explore further and leaving it up to the mechanics to make sure our car runs smoothly.

These workshops have been designed to given women confidence and basic knowledge on how to deal with any unplanned difficulties that may arise in between scheduled services like a flat tyer, overheating etc.

Whilst learning how to change a tyre, we were spoil with some oh so delicious cupcakes.

As we finished munching on cupcakes, we get down and dirty in changing a tyre.

What to look out for and knowing when it's time to change your tyres.

How to recharge your car battery correctly.

What an air cabin filter looks like when dirty and when it should be change by a mechanic.

Showing us where our brake pads are and also when they should be changed.

The Women with Drive program is a nationwide initiative, with approximately 40 Goodyear Autocare stores across Australia hosting the workshop between November 2013 and June 2014.

Hosted by a qualified Goodyear Autocare mechanic, the sessions teach participants how to check their cars basic systems including fluids, electrics, belts, hoses, wipers, under body and tyres.

This year, Goodyear Autocare will be supporting the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF). The OCRF is Australia’s pre-eminent body supporting ovarian cancer research and focus their efforts and funding on the search for an early detection test that will save women’s lives at its Women with Drive workshops.

Although the workshops are free they will have donation boxes and pins available at all venues. All money collected will go to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF).

Women interested in registering for an event can do so at

KLORANE, CAUDALIE, EVIAN, SWISSPERS AND MORE - My Latest Beauty Haul for October

I have spent quite a bit this month on beauty products, mainly from New Caledonia.  I have just come back from a cruise which had a day stopover in Noumea.  After sight seeing I headed for the first pharmacy I found to see what products they stocked.  There were loads of French brands that I literally wanted to buy the whole pharmacy, luckily my man immediately snapped me out of it as he could see I was being blinded by love and getting carried away.

Back in 2001 when we lived overseas in Europe, my cousin owned a beauty salon which housed all the best french brands available.  Unbeknown to me how sought after they were and their costs as I was not aware of these brands back then, I was fortunate enough to receive a generous amount for free and used them whilst travelling.  Years later, these brands and products are known around the world, some becoming iconic like Klorane.

This is one of my favourite brands Caudalie.  Their products range from skincare to bodycare. This soap smells divine.

I'm in love with the body wash from Klorane, already a fan of most of their products, I can't wait till it is available here.

Another gorgeous body wash, this product was free. The promotion was buy two get one free, so I purchased the two Klorane and I selected Laino as the free product. I haven't tried anything from this brand before so this prompted me to pick it.

I also hadn't heard of Uriage before so I picked one product out of the entire range that would be easy to use.

A-Derma another brand I hadn't heard of and wasn't sure what I buy so I decided on the soothing facial spray.

Mud mask from Laino, I couldn't resist.  Facial mud masks in Green Tea and Sweet orange.

Green Clay & Pink Clay

These are the best, during our stopover in Fiji I picked up these amazing extra long hair pins by Mita (Mcpherson's Consumer Products).  They are 8cm long and perfect for long, thick hair.  I use pins regularly and usually have several in my hair, but with these monsters I only need two.  If these exist in Oz I am amazed I hadn't come across these.

The pharmacist was so please with my purchased he threw in some samples!  My total spend was roughly $70.

Since my return home, I went through all my mail and came across Chemist Warehouse catalogue specials.  I immediately circled several products that I needed to get as they were on special.

Items I purchased were Swisspers Limited Edition Beauty Bag containing all the essentials you need with a really pretty carry bag for $16.69, Amele pack of 20 personal wipes $4.69, Organix shampoo and conditioner $13.99 each, Dove deodorant at $2.99 and Evian facial spray, two for $20, BARGAIN!  I normally purchase Avene facial sprays but couldn't resist the special and I have never tried Evian before.

All available at Chemist Warehouse

Realistically, do I need anymore products?  NO.  I have a cupboard full, almost enough to open up my own store, but beauty is my weakness and passion so its justified.

ASAP Super B Complex Review

I’ve been using ASAP Super B Complex for around a month.  ASAP Super B Complex is a hydrating serum containing a high concentration of Niacinamide (B3), B5 and B9 known to boost hydration, giving you a more even-toned complexion, reduce redness and even strengthen your skin’s outer protective barrier.  It also works to reduce the appearance of skin discolouration and redness across all skin types including acne-prone, and features a cross-linked Hyaluronic Acid with 5 times the moisturising power and 50 times the moisture retaining properties of traditional formulations.

Its benefits skin by stimulating collagen production, improving skin repair & skin tone, energising & revitalising the skin, reducing fine lines & wrinkles, help to decrease acne severity and boosts skins natural hydration.

The texture of the serum is smooth and silky and instantly absorbs in the skin. The serum fragrance is pleasant and subtle.  The serum is applied each night on cleansed skin before moisturiser.  I use Super B Complex 5 out of the 7 days in a week, the other two days I alternate with super A+ serum to maximise the results.  After two weeks I found my complexion to be softer and smoother with a healthy and radiant glow. My skin no longer looked dehydrated and the appearance of fine lines were softer.

Four weeks on, my pores have reduced in size and there has been a marked improvement in my skin's overall clarity and tone.

My goal for my skin is to find products that improve the condition and help me reduce the number of products I use to achieve optimum results and I believe this product is one of them.  ASAP super B complex is suitable for all skin types and ages.

Overall rating 4/5

ASAP Super A+ Serum Review

We all want to look as young as we feel, but unfortunately skin ageing seems an inevitable part of life. Sun exposure, lifestyle choices and the environment can all take its toll.  So how can we take control and combat the visible signs of ageing? The answer, Vitamin A.

Combining high strength Vitamin A with a cutting-edge biomimetic peptide, ASAP super A+ serum improves and accelerate skin’s renewal process, visibly reducing the appearance of pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles.

This anti-ageing serum works overnight to help hydrate, repair and regenerate environmentally damaged skin while stimulating collagen production and accelerating skin cell turnover. Its revolutionary, non-irritating formulation is suitable for all skin types and visibly improves skin texture.

I used the Super A+ serum for over 4 weeks, which allowed the benefits to be visibly seen. I originally applied the serum every night but found it a little too active for my skin so I applied it every 3rd night which was more suitable for me. Everyone is different and you need to experiment to what best suits your skin. The persistence is definitely worth it. Regardless of what products I was using I hadn't seen such amazing results so quickly. My skin is smoother and brighter and fine lines softened, which is a plus.

ASAP super A+ serum is ideal for older, prematurely aged skin or skin that has lost its vitality, elasticity and moisture.   I recommend using the Super B complex in conjunction with the Super A+ serum to maximise the benefits.  (See Super B complex review here).

THALGO HYALURONIC MASK REVIEW

As the skin ages over the years, its needs become more intense and changes gradually accumulate such as loss of firmness on the eyelids, facial contours and the neck. The skin loses its original tone, colour and radiance, all heightening the appearance of ageing.

This is why it is important to give your beauty regime an overhaul every few years, to make sure we are giving our skin exactly what it needs.

Thalgo Hyaluronic Mask is an instant wrinkle filling gel mask, strengthened with firming Marine Hyaluronic Acid immediately smoothes your skin and fills in your wrinkles, leaving skin feeling refreshed and tone. Perfect for those who need an instant pick me up.  Ideal for any skin types and a must for over 30s.

The thick clear consistency of the gel mask is cooling and subtly scented.  I applied the mask on my face and left it on for almost 20 minutes.  My skin felt a little tingly and occasionally needed a little scratch here and there.  After I cleansed my face with luke warm water, I stood in front on the mirror poking and squeezing my skin and admiring the softness of my wrinkles.

Here are before and after shots of my lip  and mouth area that I got the best results from that could be seen clearly in a photo.  The fine wrinkles on my forehead had also soften and become less visible, but I got better results around the mouth area which I am very pleased.

I having been using the Hyaluronic mask once a week. I found that my makeup sits better on my skin. Since using the Hyaluronic mask I no longer use a primer, which is great as I am not a big fan of primers but occassionally I need to use it for my makeup to look a lot smoother, so this product is great and perfect for skin preparation for any special event.  It is not a permanent fix for wrinkles, it will not fade your lines permanently or reduce them it is purely a temporary fix with amazing results.
